On the 24th of June Corinna School performed fabulously in front of more than 500 people at Te Raupaha Arena. Their costumes were excellent, they thought really creatively when they designed the pacific costume, they had pretty designs on it, and as for their Kapa Haka group it looked beautiful, and they put a lot of thought into their school logo
The School students stood there proudly being discipline, as they all say "A good group is a discipline group" And these young Corinna Students achieved it really well.
They strongly performed well as they might have been taught by the best, they looked beautiful and stunning, There performance was outstanding, they are now one of my most favourite performances ever.
They worked hard and showed off they hard effort that they put into it
They worked hard as a team, I could see that some of them were shaking their hands nervously and some of their faces went bright pink.
I have nothing else to say to that school but "I love it".

KAPO KAPO Performance
On Tuesday 23rd June at Te Rauparaha Arena I got the opportunity to perform Kapa Haka and Pasifika dances at Kapo Kapo.
First we had the Polynesia Kapo Kapo group to perform up on the stage which I was part of. While walking upon the stage I felt scared and nervous.
When I was up on the stage I felt so proud of myself because I believed in myself and took a really big risk. The K.C. skill I used during Kapo Kapo was self-managing because we had to listen to the teachers and instructors a lot and we also had to be on our own on the stage.
After the Pacifika group, we had the kapahaka group performing. I was also involved this. For us to perform we had to turn up to all of the practises on a Thursday, always be disciplined by doing the right actions,s mile at the right times, pukana at the right times and always watch and listen.

KEY COMPETENCIES: Finger Knitting
GOOD FRIDAY: FINGER KNITTING
Every Friday it is always a good Friday because we get to do fun activities that we are interested in learning more about.
For example: Knitting,Sewing,Music,Sports and Cooking with other students in our whanau.
One of the activity groups I have chosen to be in is the sewing and knitting group. Last week we learnt how to do finger knitting. The key competency skill I used most was Thinking. This is because I needed to search the internet to find instructions on how to do finger knitting. I read the instructions carefully and then followed them. I followed the instructions and looked at the pictures and then started doing it at the same time.
In the weekend, I decided that I wanted to share what I learnt and teach other people how to do finger knitting. I created a presentation to share my skills with others. I took photos of me doing the finger knitting so that other people can copy me.

KEY COMPETENCIES LEARNING STORY: Working in a maths team
MATHS GROUPS LEARNING STORY
I am learning to work with my learning team to solve problems using the best strategy.
In my maths group I can participate and contribute to discussions by listening to the person that is talking and thinking about what they are saying and if I agree with them. I can use friendly arguing if I don't agree with their strategy.
When we are in our maths learning groups I can share and explain my ideas in a confident way.When we are reading the questions We have to understand what the question is asking us to do and visualise it in our heads.
I can always take a risk and give my team some ideas about which strategy is the best strategy, even if I don't know if I am right or wrong. I have a go anyway.
I also help my team to stay focused on the one part of the question before moving on to the next part of the problem. We need to work as a team to check that we have solved all of the problem. We need to use a different strategy to check if it is right.
I can help others when they are stuck on a question by explaining the problem and giving them examples.

NETBALL LEARNING STORY
At netball training after school and every Saturday at my netball game, I am able to relate well to others, to work together with other people in my netball team. I use these skills to get to know my team so I know what their strengths are so I know what they good at. I use this strategy to know how high or low I can pass the ball to my team mates.
I can share ideas with my netball team and also listen to the coach and other peoples ideas so I can learn more about netball. I also always show respect to the referee by listening to the ref says when she blows her whistle. An example, is not talking back to the referee and not argue with them, even if I don't agree.
When I am relating to my netball team, I can make sure everyone is included and feels good about themselves. At practise I ask people to join in with learning the drills and if they don't know how to do it, I help them by showing them what to do. I can encourage them to catch the ball when someone passes it to them and to always mark their partner to stop them getting the ball. Make sure I don't scream at them when they drop the ball because we know we are a team.

Writing Learning Story
In writing I have been learning to use descriptive writing like adjectives and similes in my writing to paint a picture in my headers head. I did this in my Conscription Story about World War 1. I was retelling and describing what my character felt like when his name was pulled out of the ballot.
An example of my descriptive writing is:
The sun was shining like gold. I could feel goosebumps on my arms like hundreds and hundreds of spiders crawling on my arms and legs.
When I am stuck I will remember some of the ideas from my reading book. I will look for interesting words and phrases. I talk about what they mean and think about how I can make them into my own words.
This term I have also been learning to include lots of details about Anzac Day to give the reader a good and clear picture in their head and learn a lot about Anzac day and WW1.
I can use the 5w's to tell the reader what I am writing about, who is involved and where and when it happened.

In Reading I have been learning to find information about the Vietnam War. I wanted to find out who was involved and where did it take place. I used these websites to help me find answers to my wondering questions.:
To help me research about the Vietnam war, I also used books in the library to find out more information about the Vietnam war.
When I researching to find the answers I had to skim and scan to read and also find answers to the questions faster. Sometimes me and my buddy will have to read in between the lines to find some clues to help us understand what the author means when he doesn't just tell us.
When we find the answer we write notes about it so we can go back and talk about them. We have to work out what is the key information and what will help answer our questions. We then summarise it in our own words so we can explain what we learnt.

When we did problems about Anzacs, I could use what I learnt about the soldiers in the boats at Gallipoli to help me visualise what the problem was asking me to do.
I knew there were 78 boats, on each boats there are 15 soldiers. We went 78x15=? The numbers were to large to times so we had to times the tens and the ones.

(10x70=700) + (5x70=350) + (5x8=40) + (10x8=80)
The answer was 2070 soldiers on 78 boats.
